I have been asked quite a few times about how our anti-wrinkle face serum, Essential Elixir compares to Botox®. So I have created a simple table listing the advantages of our serum and Botox®. Each product have their own role to play in helping to maintain a more youthful appearance.

Essential Elixir Serum
|
Botox®
|
- Non Invasive application.
- Serum is easily applied to face by the user, and is a safe.
- Effective for all types of wrinkles (expression lines and fine lines).
- Can be used to treat wrinkles on any part of the face.
- Addresses issue of wrinkles and also improves the skin health by stimulating the production of collagen, elastin and rejuvenating the cellular matrix of the skin, especially when used with the core Rejuve Night cream.
The active ingredient in the formulations acts not only as skin rejuvenating actives, but also as essential skin nutrients. Wrinkles appear diminished, skin tone and texture appear improved.
- The serum is for long term benefit to the skin. Skin health continues to improve with continued use and visible improvement is seen within weeks of using product. It has a culminative beneficial effect. As seen from the case studies (case study1, case study2, case study3, case study4).
- It is not a direct competitor of Botox®, as Botox® has an ‘almost’ immediate effect in improving wrinkles as it is injected directly into the muscles. The serum while effective will never be as effective or quick in treating wrinkles like Botox® does.
What it offers is a painless gradual cumulative improvement in facial wrinkles and also the general improvement in skin health which Botox® does not address.
The serum can be an ideal product for those who want to age ‘naturally and gracefully’ but want improve their wrinkles and skin health. Great for those who wants to avoid Botox® for now.
However, for Botox® users, this could be the ‘ideal skin care’ that complements their Botox® effects!

- Invasive treatment. It is injected into selected facial muscles to address the issue of facial wrinkles.
- It is important to have Botox® administered by a health care practitioner who is trained in the procedure, so to prevent unwanted side results. Side effects even though are rare, but they do exist.
They include: 1) bruising and swelling at site of injection (which may last a few hours), 2) drooping of upper eyelid, if improperly administered (this can last for weeks till the effect of Botox® wears off), 3) Headache, 4) Nausea.
- Botox® is effective for ‘expression lines’ due to excessive muscle movement, such as frown lines on forehead and crow’s feet area.
- Usually used on the upper half of the face so as to preserve expression on lower half of face. For lower half of face, filler are usually used to treat wrinkles.
- Used onlyto treat wrinkles. Does not improve skin health. Does not provide any anti-oxidant benefit, does not stimulate collagen or elastin production. Does not provide any essential nutrients to the skin cells.
- Almost immediate effect. Best results are seen usually within a week or so of having Botox®. From then on the effect of Botox® gradually begins to wear down with the passing weeks. Usually Botox® injections need to be given again after 4-6 months to maintain the desired results.
- Quick fix results for the short term. ‘Masks’ the effect of effects of aging.
